On Monday, February 9, 2026, the first kick-off meeting for the project was held Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders DepolLowC

On the agenda:

  • The development process for low-carbon binders produced from industrial by-products;
  • The availability of raw and secondary materials across the project area, including slag, fly ash, and clay-rich dredged sediments;
  • The identification of contaminated soils and sites that could be used to validate the stabilization performance of the binders.

FLASH CALCINER INAUGURATION

The DepolLowC project was presented at the "Flash Calciner" launch event organized by VITO.

This pilot plant converts clay-rich waste streams into high-quality calcined clay. This material can replace at least 30% of Portland cement without any loss of strength, thereby contributing significantly to the reduction of emissions from CO₂ in the construction
